It has been there for decades with travelers and locals driving right by Olde Church Antiques on highway 17 in the quaintly named town of Supply, NC.
Some of its windows are broken and paint is peeling off its walls. It doesn’t face onto Highway 17 like the Hardees and Bogangles across the highway and driving by you would never guess that the old pink church was even still open… much less open for business.
But for over 24 years the owners, Joyce and Larry Shackelford have operated Olde Church Antiques in Supply out of an old church built back in 1948.

The old baptist church building is basically crumbling around them, however, that doesn’t seem to concern Shackelfords or slow them down from their antiquing pursuits.
Their story began when they started out with a “junk store” in nearby Southport but when they found the old church building on Blanton Drive they were really off and running.
Starting out the Shackelfords pretty much sold items that they found interesting themselves – and they still do, however, over time they connected with some leading antique dealers from whom they picked up some pointers.
They learned that estate sales were good places to find items for their shop, but their best success came from scouting out area yard sales. But they also learned that “the early bird gets the worm” and you really have to be committed to getting out to the weekend yard sales early in the morning to find “the really good stuff”!
One reviewer on Yelp writes:
“This antique store is in a really neat old church. We always find something we didn’t know we needed or wanted when we are there. There are lots of collectibles here (on 2 floors and a loft) and we enjoy the thrill of the hunt. It’s definitely worth stopping when you are in the area.”
We agree! Even if you don’t find anything you want to purchase it is an experience not to be missed if you like off the beaten path places!
