The competition is an official World Surf league Qualifying Series event drawing top notch talent from around the globe to the unique coastline of the Outer Banks. Held August 28 – September 1 (Labor Day Weekend) at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head.

Wave Riding Vehicles has played an important role in the development of modern surfing along the east coast of the US and throughout the world for surfing since 1967.
Today Wave Riding Vehicles (WRV) continues to support surfing in all its traditional and competitive forms.
The Wave Riding Vehicles Outer Banks Pro was first held in 2009 with the completion of the new Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head.
The pier’s ample parking and stellar views both contribute to what has become the most surf contest on the east coast. The pier’s new eco-conscious design both supports ocean ecosystem conservation and awareness.
This year’s surf event, the WRV Outer Banks Pro, is an official WSL QS1000 Event which draws top rated surfers from all over the globe to surf the unique coastline of Outer Banks of North Carolina.
