This Thanksgiving Day get into the 8th Annual Surfin’ Turkey 5K and Puppy Drum Run, hosted by Hatteras Village and presented by the Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund (HIYEF). This organization is dedicated to helping the children of Hatteras Island.
This beautiful 5K course winds through the historic fishing village of Hatteras Island. Turkey gear is encouraged and the entire family is welcome to join in on the fun! We allow strollers, dogs, runners, and walkers for this charity fun run!
Water is provided on the course. This is not a timed race; it is a family fun event, if you want to know your time please wear a watch or make sure you look at the clock at the finish line. Non-refundable charity event. Race is rain or shine but will be canceled for safety reasons in the event of severe weather. Slower runners and walkers should start at the back of the corral.

Packet-Pick-Up and On-site Registration
On-site registration will be available during Packet Pickup at the Hatteras Village Civic Center on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm and on the morning of the race between 7am and 7:30am. Packets may be picked up either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning before the race. If you do not register online, we will not be able to guarantee a shirt as part of your race packet. Race bags will include coupons from local businesses to get a head start on local Black Friday deals.

Everyone gets breakfast…hot pancakes after the race! Carolina Brewery will also provide fresh microbrew beer for participants over 21 who would like to enjoy it.
The top three males, females and children under 16 will receive a special piece of art created by Antoinette Mattingly of Kinnakeet Clay. This is a family fun event. If you want to know your time, wear a watch or make sure you look at the clock at the finish line. Parents are encouraged to come out and run with their children.

There will be limited race day parking on site. Additional (nearby) parking sites will have parking signs.
