The Carolina Beach Inshore Challenge at Inlet Watch Marina in Wilmington, NC, features a fishing tournament for red drum and flounder. This Fishing Tournament celebrates the calm, warm September days, which are best spent on the water.
The 2020 Carolina Beach Inshore Challenge, held September 11-12th, 2020, is a fun and competitive event that is a great way for area anglers to try their luck at tournament fishing.
This year’s CBIC will once again feature an eight-place leaderboard for both flounder and red drum, offering anglers weighing the single heaviest of both species some serious opportunities at leaving the event with hefty prize money. Alongside the main leaderboard, TWT’s for Single Big Flounder and Single Big Red Drum are offered to give participants a chance to further fatten their winnings, as well as a new “Trash Fish” TWT.
The “Trash Fish” TWT payouts will go to the boats that weigh in the single heaviest oyster toad or lizardfish, so by the close of scales, three teams will get paid for their “un-success.” For those that are wondering, all of the oyster toads and lizardfish weighed in will be donated to local crabbers to be used as bait.
To add to the excitement of big payouts at awards, we will be offering a complimentary awards dinner catered by Papa Murphy’s Pizza, a take-and-bake pizza company offering pizzas made from scratch daily. Fisherman’s Post strives to put on events (not just competitions), and to that end, we’ll also be hosting a Captains’ Party on Friday sponsored by Adams Beverages and Anheuser Busch.
We’re thrilled to be returning to Inlet Watch Marina for our tenth year. Inlet Watch features the iconic background of Carolina Beach Inlet, and the location is central to some of North Carolina’s finest flounder and red drum fishing.
We’re still offering the $50 guaranteed bounty for the Junior, Lady, and Senior anglers scaling the heaviest single fish (red drum or flounder), and once again we will be awarding Live Release bonuses, a SeaTow prize, and the popular Intracoastal Angler Specialty Weight prizes, where anglers closest to the designated weights receive a $50 Intracoastal Angler gift card. And teams whose fish closest in weight are brought in alive, then they’ll receive an extra $25 gift card.
Finally, we’ll be donating proceeds from the event to the Wilmington Elks to aid their mission of helping children, enhancing communities, and honoring the service and sacrifices of our military veterans.
If you’ve never fished a tournament before, Fisherman’s Post events are a great way to join in on the experience. Come eat and drink with us on Friday, bring in a couple of heavy fish on Saturday, and then eat and drink with us again to celebrate both a good day of fishing and a great season of camaraderie and competition.
